Charity Softball Tournament Press Release

HMR Advantage Health Systems Softball Competition Presents $14,000 to Tamassee DAR School

The HMR Advantage Health Systems family joined hands to raise $14,000 to benefit the Tamassee DAR school by hosting their 2nd Annual Charity Softball Tournament at Red Owens Sports Complex in Easley on November 2nd & 3rd.  The tournament was a double elimination competition.  Striker from the Anderson Joe's was there to throw out the first pitch.  The event included concessions, raffle, face painting and the castle bounce house for the kids.  Mike McBride, President of HMR Advantage said, "The competition was fun, the spirit was great and the teamwork was wonderful.   It was really great to see such a good cause grow to the level that it has in only two years.  My hat's off to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors and players that made all of this happen".

The lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle drawing was a staff member from our dietary department at Greenville Living Center who won $1,176.  She bought 2 - $1.00 raffle tickets and was glad that she did.   The Living Centers and teams that participated in the tournament included Blue Ridge, Brookside, Easley, Greenville, Falls Creek, Laurel Hill, Piedmont, Richard Campbell Veterans Home, Riverside, Summit Place, Westside and the HMR Corporate Office.  The two teams that advanced to the championship game were the "Bombers" from Easley Living Center and the "Bruisers" from Brookside Living Center.  The game was tied going into the final inning and BROOKSIDE LIVING CENTER won the game.

The trophies were presented to the coach and team from each facility by Bill Williamson, Vice President of HMR Advantage Health System.  The coach from Easley Living Center is Rick Ellenburg, Director of Plant and Maintenance Services and the Coach/Executive Director of Brookside Living Center is Rubert Austin.

The true winners of the day was the Tamassee DAR School.  The check presentation was to Pam Towe, Associate Director and to the Tamassee children.  "I'm overwhelmed and we're so grateful for your support, Towe says.  "The children look forward to playing in the tournament each year.   HMR has a wonderful group of people who care about each other and others in the community as well".
